First impressions count. This is why revolving doors are usually installed in entrance areas. Revolving doors are particularly important in this application. A sophisticated look, excellent feel, and of course flawless function are essential to give visitors a positive impression. Practical considerations also motivate building operators to use revolving doors: They keep draughts, noise, dust, and dirt outside. This helps create an entrance area with a pleasant indoor climate, with the entire space available for use. The clear spatial separation between the interior and exterior, as well as the energy this saves, offer significant cost advantages and make the use of revolving doors even more appealing. Last but not least, they also help visitors enter the building more quickly, particularly an advantage for public buildings such as airports or shopping malls.

Multiple different specifications and a wide range of different variants increase complexity for planners. Answer the following five questions to be certain you can choose a system that works for your needs. Once you have clarified the specifications behind these questions can you consider other functions and the design of your revolving door.
Usage frequency is the ideal place to begin your planning, since it has a direct influence on the subsequent questions regarding door drive, door diameter and number of leaves. It is therefore important to consider the answer to this question carefully.
The interior diameter of your revolving door will decide its user capacity. Detailed information on this point is provided in our product brochures.
Manual revolving doors are used with a diameter of approx. 3000 mm for buildings with a limited flow of visitors.
Automatic revolving doors with servo function improve access convenience, since the turnstile is started automatically. In order to reach walking speed, the door can be accelerated by hand.
Fully automatic doors with movement detectors are suitable for high access frequency. This type of revolving door offers the highest level of convenience. These door systems can be produced up to a maximum inner diameter of 3600 mm.
2-leaf revolving doors are suitable for high capacity usage. Thanks to their large segments, this design offers the best access convenience – even for users with luggage or for wheelchairs. In addition, this revolving door can also be repurposed into a sliding door.
3-leaf revolving doors can handle a slightly smaller number of users. However, they offer good access convenience, since the space between the door leaves is relatively large. This type of door is first choice for shopping centres.
The 4-leaf revolving door is the classic version with the highest capacity, suited for large streams of visitors, including two-way traffic. Due to the symmetric construction, the drum of the revolving door is closed by two leaves, which results in improved protection against environmental influences and an improved vestibule effect.
